The artistic style of the corridor murals of Qutan Temple traces its origins back to  ancient Indian Buddhist art, evidenced by similar themes found in relics such as the relief on  the first gate of the Great Stupa of Sanchi, the relief of Bharhut Stupa, and sculptures from  Gandhara dating back to the second or third centuries A.D.These artworks predominantly  focus on depicting the deeds of Buddha following his nirvana and are characterized by the  distinct style of ancient Indian sculpture.
